abstract | 【Task】 An object of the present invention is to provide a polyvinyl acetal having a reduced content of aldehyde, particularly 2-ethyl-2-hexenal, and a heat-developable photosensitive material using the same. [Solution] A polyvinyl acetal having a content of 2-ethyl-2-hexenal of 80 ppm or less. This polyvinyl acetal can be obtained, for example, by an acetalization reaction between an aldehyde having a content of 3-hydroxy-2-ethylhexanal of 2000 ppm or less and polyvinyl alcohol under an acid catalyst. An aldehyde having a 3-hydroxy-2-ethylhexanal content of 2000 ppm or less can be obtained by removing high-boiling components by distillation. [Selection figure] None |
