abstract | Provided are a processing liquid for ink jet recording that can sufficiently suppress curling of a recording medium, and an ink jet recording method using the processing liquid. (1) A treatment liquid for a recording medium used before ink is applied to the recording medium by ink jet recording, the treatment liquid comprising an alkylpyrrolidone having an alkyl group having 8 to 12 carbon atoms and water. (2) The processing liquid according to (1), which contains N-octyl-2-pyrrolidone as alkylpyrrolidone.
