abstract | Provided are a pigment dispersion manufacturing method and a pigment dispersion which can improve the abrasion resistance of an image when an ink for ink jet recording is prepared and can perform good image recording. A pigment dispersion is obtained by mixing a pigment, a polymer dispersion having an acidic group, a compound represented by the following general formula (I), and an alkali metal hydroxide, followed by dispersion treatment.
