Caries risk test to predict and assess disease risk |
abstract |
It is an object to provide a method, a test device, and a diagnostic kit for predicting, evaluating, and diagnosing disease risk using saliva analysis. The object is to obtain a total (unsorted) saliva sample from a subject; an aliquot of the saliva and one or more lectins, wherein the one or more lectins are one or more of the saliva. Contacting the lectin-binding component of the subject under conditions capable of binding; detecting the amount of bound lectin; and the amount of the bound lectin relative to an amount known to bind to a saliva sample from a control subject. Has been solved by providing a method for predicting the risk of disease in a subject. Also provided are methods for reducing the risk of the disease and methods for assessing the risk of the disease at a defined level. [Selection figure] None |
