abstract A screening method for dopamine signaling inhibitors is provided. It has been found that the enhancement of odor-repelling behavior by nematode pre-stimulation is suppressed by haloperidol, an antagonist of dopamine D2 receptor. In order to calculate the repellent index, the 9 cm plate was divided into 6 sections of the same width. The number of nematodes in each compartment was counted, and the repelling index was calculated using the following formula. Repellent index = ΣWiNi / N: where Wi is the weight of each section (for section 1-6, −2.5, −1.5, −0.5, +0.5, +1.5, and +2 respectively) .5), Ni is the number of nematodes in each section, and N is the total number of nematodes in all six sections of the plate.
