[Solution] A process for producing a hydroxyl group-containing olefin copolymer (P) comprising the following [Step 1], [Step 2] and [Step 3]; [Step 1] A step of producing a double bond-containing aluminoxy compound (M) by reacting the double bond-containing carboxylic acid derivative (E) represented by the general formula (2) with an alkylaluminum compound (A), [Step 2] Then, in the presence of a transition metal catalyst, a double bond-containing aluminoxy compound (M) and an olefin (L) having 2 to 20 carbon atoms are copolymerized to form the double bond-containing aluminoxy compound (M A process for producing an olefin copolymer (P ′) containing an aluminoxy group copolymerized with [Step 3] A step of converting the aluminoxy group-containing olefin copolymer (P ′) with a proton-donating compound to convert it into a hydroxyl group-containing olefin copolymer (P).
