abstract The present invention provides a process for producing β-lactams that can prevent the decomposition of [2 + 2] cycloadducts (β-lactams) to a higher degree. A first raw material liquid containing olefins and a second raw material liquid containing a sulfonyl isocyanate represented by the general formula (2): XSO 2 NCO (2) are joined together. The final combined liquid obtained by combining the first raw material liquid and the second raw material liquid at least once is continuously supplied to the tubular reactor, and the general formula (3): The N-sulfonyl-β-lactam represented by the formula is continuously produced.
