abstract | A method for producing methyl 2-bromo-3- {4- [2- (5-ethyl-2-pyridyl) ethoxy] phenyl} propionate with high efficiency and high purity is provided. A solution containing a diazonium salt is prepared by reacting 4- [2- (5-ethyl-2-pyridyl) ethoxy] aniline with nitrite in the presence of hydrobromic acid. In the presence, the diazonium salt is reacted with methyl acrylate, and the crude product after the reaction is washed with hydrobromic acid to obtain high-purity 2-bromo-3- {4- [2- (5-ethyl-2 -Pyridyl) ethoxy] phenyl} propionic acid methyl process.
