abstract |
The present invention provides a method for regenerating a copper catalyst that can efficiently regenerate a solid copper catalyst deactivated by sintering or adsorption of a sulfur-containing catalyst poison component. SOLUTION: A solid copper catalyst deactivated by sintering or adsorption of a sulfur-containing catalyst poison component (sulfide compound such as dimethyl sulfide) is oxidized with an oxygen-containing gas, and further reduced with a hydrogen-containing gas. Regenerate the activated solid copper catalyst. The deactivation catalyst may be a copper catalyst deactivated in the process of producing aldehyde by dehydrogenation of alcohol. The deactivated catalyst may be subjected to oxidation with an oxygen-containing gas without performing an oil removal treatment with a solvent or a pretreatment with a hydrogen-containing gas, and the reduction treatment with a hydrogen-containing gas may be performed in a gas phase.
