abstract The present invention provides a metal catalyst-carrying particle that is excellent in durability at a high temperature and that can suppress a decrease in activity of the metal catalyst at a high temperature, a production method thereof, a metal catalyst-carrying particle dispersion, and a catalyst. The metal catalyst-carrying particles of the present invention have silver catalyst particles alone or silver catalyst particles and catalyst particles made of noble metal excluding silver supported on the surface of silicon carbide particles or silicon nitride particles, and then oxidized. A crystalline silicon oxide layer was formed on the surface of the silicon carbide particles or silicon nitride particles by oxidation in a neutral atmosphere. [Selection figure] None
