abstract |
An image forming apparatus capable of suppressing misalignment between images transferred on a recording medium while saving resources and reducing costs. The image forming apparatus includes a transfer conveyance belt that is stretched by a plurality of roller members and that conveys a recording medium so as to pass through a direct transfer position and a secondary transfer position. The image is secondarily transferred onto the recording medium via the transfer belt 6, and the image is directly transferred onto the recording medium from the second image carrier provided upstream or downstream in the recording medium conveyance direction from the secondary transfer position. In the image forming apparatus to be transferred, the optical sensor 11 detects an image finally transferred from the first image carrier and the second image carrier onto the intermediate transfer belt 6 or the transfer conveyance belt 8, and Control means for controlling image forming conditions based on the detection result of the sensor 11 is provided.
