PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a metal foil excellent in adhesiveness with an insulating layer, and to provide a metal foil laminate excellent in solder heat resistance and heat durability and suitable for a printed wiring board. Provided is a metal foil having excellent adhesion to an insulating layer by providing a surface treatment agent layer (thin layer) of an organosilicon compound on a metal foil and subjecting the surface treatment agent layer to superheated steam treatment. . Furthermore, a metal foil polyimide resin laminate excellent in solder heat resistance and heat durability is obtained by laminating a polyimide resin layer on the superheated steam-treated surface of the organosilicon compound thin layer of the metal foil.
