abstract | An apparatus and a method for producing polyhydroxycarboxylic acid with improved raw material yield of a process are provided. In a polyhydroxycarboxylic acid production apparatus equipped with a ring-opening polymerization apparatus, a liquid phase devolatilization apparatus, and a drying apparatus, an indirect heat exchanger is connected to an exhaust system of the liquid phase devolatilization apparatus. The process scattered material containing the polyhydroxycarboxylic acid cyclic dimer is captured and sent to the ring-opening polymerization apparatus. A wet condenser and a hot well are connected to the exhaust system of the indirect heat exchanger and the drying apparatus, respectively. The process waste containing the cyclic dimer is captured by the refrigerant containing the hydroxy carboxylic acid corresponding to the cyclic dimer and sent to the hot well. The hot well hydrolyzes the cyclic dimer to generate the hydroxy carboxylic acid. The produced hydroxycarboxylic acid is circulated to the wet condenser as a unit with the refrigerant, and the hydroxy cartridge is circulated between the wet condenser and the hot well.
