abstract An object of the present invention is to provide a method for producing an optical film having few point defects and excellent optical characteristics. An optical film for forming an amorphous thermoplastic resin by a melt extrusion method using a single-screw extruder having a temperature controllable mechanism with a resin supply screw and a resin metering screw. In the method, the above problem can be solved by satisfying the following (1) and (2).
