Provided is an optical film in which retardation and its wavelength dispersion characteristic are adjusted to a range suitable for optical compensation of a VA mode liquid crystal display device. An optical film obtained by stretching a film having a low residual solvent amount in the transport direction and heat-treating at a temperature not lower than the glass transition point (Tg) and not higher than the melting point (Tm). 6) An optical film comprising a cellulose acylate film satisfying 6) and comprising at least one cellulose acylate and at least one retardation increasing agent having an absorption maximum wavelength λmax of 280 nm or more and 380 nm or less.
