abstract PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vinyl ethylene carbonate having excellent reaction conversion rate of vinyl ethylene carbonate while performing a simple reaction step at a low reaction temperature and capable of obtaining a high purity vinyl ethylene carbonate only by a simple separation and purification step. A manufacturing method is provided. A method for producing vinyl ethylene carbonate includes a step of synthesizing and purifying vinyl ethylene carbonate by reacting 3,4-dihydroxy-1-butene and dialkyl carbonate using a basic catalyst.
