abstract Provided is a method for producing a carboxylic acid steroid ester, which can obtain a corresponding carboxylic acid steroid ester in a high yield even if an equal amount of steroid alcohol and carboxylic acid are esterified. A steroid alcohol and a carboxylic acid are esterified in the presence of ferric chloride hexahydrate. By this method, carboxylic acids having a large number of carbon atoms such as octanoic acid, decanoic acid, lauric acid, myristic acid, palmitic acid and stearic acid and steroid alcohols can be produced in a short time and in a high yield.
