abstract | Disclosed is a microorganism that exhibits cellulolytic activity under strongly acidic conditions. A microorganism belonging to the genus Fomitopsis that exhibits cellulolytic activity under conditions of pH 2 or lower was isolated. Examples of the microorganism include a microorganism specified by the accession number NITE P-559, and examples of the cellulolytic activity include endocellulase activity and β-glucosidase activity.
