abstract | A flat alkaline primary battery and a method of manufacturing a flat alkaline primary battery capable of improving handling properties and capacity storage are provided. In a flat alkaline primary battery 1 in which a positive electrode mixture 5, a negative electrode mixture 7, and an electrolytic solution are housed in a case 8, the positive electrode mixture 5 is formed of oxywater whose surface is coated with γ-cobalt oxyhydroxide. While containing nickel oxide as a main positive electrode active material, the negative electrode mixture 7 contains zinc or zinc alloy powder as a main negative electrode active material, and contains carboxymethyl cellulose and cross-linked polyacrylic acid or salts thereof as a thickener.
