titleOfInvention | Cellulose ester film, polarizing plate and liquid crystal display device |
abstract | The present invention provides a cellulose ester film useful for a liquid crystal display device having high humidity stability of retardation in the film thickness direction and excellent wet-heat durability for retardation and dimensional change in the film thickness direction. SOLUTION: A cellulose ester resin and a polymer X having a weight average molecular weight of 500 to 100,000 are contained, and the polymer X contains at least one monomer unit containing a phenyl group having 1 to 4 substituents in the ortho position or the meta position. A cellulose ester film containing the polymer X satisfying the following formulas (1) and (2): 30% ≦ A ≦ 100% (1) (In the formula, A represents a polymerization ratio in the polymer X of a monomer in which the polymer exhibits negative birefringence when polymerized alone.) 10% ≦ B ≦ 100% (2) (In the formula, B represents a polymerization ratio in the polymer X of a monomer containing a phenyl group having 1 to 4 substituents at the ortho position or the meta position.)
