abstract |
Disclosed is a method for producing 3-chloro-4-fluorobenzotrifluoride, which is useful as an intermediate for medicines and agricultural chemicals and an intermediate for functional materials. 4-Fluorotoluene is used as a starting material, which is subjected to the next step to be derived into the target compound. First step: A step of reacting 4-fluorobenzotrichloride with hydrogen fluoride (HF) to obtain 4-fluorobenzotrifluoride. Step 2: 4-Fluoro benzotrifluoride is reacted with chlorine (Cl 2), to obtain 3-chloro-4-fluoro benzotrifluoride. [Selection figure] None |
