abstract |
Disclosed is a novel mutant polynucleotide encoding an enzyme with improved thermostability, and a plant that expresses the polynucleotide and causes an increase in yield when grown under high temperature stress conditions. A mutant polynucleotide encoding the enzymatic activity of corn endosperm ADP glucose pyrophosphorylase (AGP) and soluble starch synthase (SSS). Plants and plant tissues that have been bred to contain the mutant polynucleotide or that have been transformed with the mutant polynucleotide and that express the polypeptide encoded by the polynucleotide.
