abstract |
The battery (10) has a first (26) terminal in electrical communication with the first (12) electrode of the battery, a second (14) electrode in electrical communication with the second (14) electrode of the battery. (21) a terminal, a battery can electrically insulated from the first terminal, and at least one current interrupt device in electrical communication with the battery can. The battery can includes a cell case (22) and a lid (24) in electrical communication with each other. At least a portion of the battery can is at least one component of the second terminal or is electrically connected to the second terminal. The current interrupt device includes a first conductive plate (30) in electrical communication with the second electrode and a second conductive plate (32) in electrical communication with the first conductive plate. . The second conductive plate is separated from the first conductive plate when the internal pressure of the battery exceeds a predetermined value, thereby interrupting the current flow between the second electrode and the second terminal. |
