Disclosed are compositions, methods, and kits for joining unbound lumens within a patient, including vascular lumens. More particularly, in various embodiments, the present invention provides compositions, methods, and kits for joining such unbound lumens, including fine lumens that normally require microscopic techniques. The present invention relates to the discovery that stabilizing the shape of the terminal portion of tubular tissue facilitates the joining of such non-connective tissue. In one aspect, such stabilization is achieved through the use of a biocompatible solid material that can be placed in the terminal portion of at least one lumen of the tubular tissue to be connected. |
