abstract |
In a method of functionalizing a carbon nanotube surface, the nanotube surface is exposed to one or more vapors comprising at least one functionalized species that binds non-covalently to the nanotube surface while simultaneously providing a chemical functional group on the nanotube surface to provide functional functionality. To produce a carbonized nanotube surface. Simultaneously exposing the functionalized nanotube surface to at least one vapor stabilizing species that reacts with the functionalized layer to form a stabilizing layer that stabilizes the functionalized layer against desorption from the nanotube surface; Chemical functional groups may be provided to produce a stabilized nanotube surface. The stabilized nanotube surface may be exposed to at least one material layer precursor species that deposits a material layer on the stabilized nanotube surface. [Selection] Figure 2 |
