titleOfInvention Flexible and extensible polypropylene-based spunbond nonwovens
abstract The present invention relates to a nonwoven web or fabric. In particular, the present invention relates to a nonwoven web having excellent wear resistance and excellent flexibility characteristics. The nonwoven material consists of fibers made from a polymer blend of isotactic polypropylene and a reactor grade propylene based elastomer or plastomer, together with 100-2500 ppm slip agent (by weight of fiber). The isotactic polypropylene can be a homopolymer polypropylene and / or a random copolymer of propylene and one or more α-olefins. Reactor grade propylene based elastomers or plastomers have a molecular weight distribution of less than about 3.5 and a heat of fusion of less than about 90 joules / gm. In particular, reactor grade propylene-based elastomers or plastomers contain 3 to 15 weight percent units derived from ethylene and a melt flow rate of 2 to 200 grams / 10 minutes. Ercamide is a preferred slip agent.
