abstract | A method using a piezoelectric cantilever sensor comprising a piezoelectric layer and a non-piezoelectric layer for detecting airborne biological agents. The identity entity is placed on one or both of the two layers. Antibodies that recognize and bind to airborne species can be chemically immobilized on the cantilever sensor surface. In one aspect, the cantilever sensor is attached to the base only at one end. In other aspects, the sensor includes first and second bases, and at least one of the piezoelectric and non-piezoelectric layers is attached to the first and second bases, respectively, to form a piezoelectric cantilever beam sensor. In this embodiment, resonance is measured via stress on the piezoelectric layer; such a sensor is robust and has excellent sensitivity to detect airborne species in a gaseous medium at a relatively low concentration with sufficient sensitivity It was shown to show properties. |
