abstract |
The present invention relates to a water vapor comprising a substrate and a polymer derived from one or more nonionic monomers that polymerizes in the presence of at least one nonionic surfactant and in the absence of the ionic surfactant. And a coating that restricts permeation. The cloud point of the at least one nonionic surfactant is preferably lower than the polymerization temperature. The nonionic surfactant is preferably an alkylene oxide adduct of alkyl alcohol, alkyl benzene alcohol, or dialkyl benzene alcohol, wherein the number of alkylene oxide groups is 14 or less. The present invention relates to a dispersion formed by polymerizing a nonionic monomer at a polymerization temperature in the presence of at least one nonionic surfactant having a cloud point lower than the polymerization temperature; a water vapor barrier composition; A coating formed from the dispersion, a method for producing the dispersion; a method for producing the coating; and a method of reducing the ability of water vapor to permeate the substrate. |
