titleOfInvention HSDPA coprocessor for mobile terminals
abstract In one embodiment, an HSDPA coprocessor for 3GPP Release 6 Category 8 (7.2 Mb / s) that provides all of the chip rate, symbol rate, physical channel, and transfer channel processing for HSDPA in 90 nm CMOS is there. The coprocessor design can scale to all HSDPA data transmission rates up to 14 Mb / s. The coprocessor implements a highly advanced receiver based on the NLMS equalizer, supports RX diversity and TX diversity, and provides improved performance up to 6.4 dB over typical single antenna rake receivers. Thus, the HSDPA coprocessor according to embodiments of the present invention can be used to add 3GPP R6 HSDPA functionality to legacy R99 modems at a reasonable cost and power increase.
