Disclosed are the chemically active poly (ethylene glycol) and other hydrophilic polymers that are suitable for binding to pharmaceutically or diagnostically active substances such as peptides, oligonucleotides, proteins or non-peptide molecules. The compound is represented by the formula Poly- (X—NH—CO—A) n , where Poly is a hydrophilic polymer having a molecular weight of about 300 to 100,000 Daltons, and A is —NH—CO— Together, they form a reactive group, X is a spacer moiety or bond, and n is an integer including 1 to 50. The active substance in question that can be conjugated to the disclosed compounds can be selected from hemoglobin, insulin, urokinase, alpha interferon, G-CSF, hGH, asparaginase, adenosine deaminase, superoxide dismutase and catalase. |
