abstract The present invention relates to extracts of ganoderma species plant material prepared by supercritical CO 2 extraction. In one aspect, the invention relates to a reishi species extract comprising a fraction having a real-time direct analysis (DART) mass spectrometry chromatogram of any of FIGS. In a further embodiment, the extract comprises a compound selected from the group consisting of essential oils, triterpenes, polysaccharides, and combinations thereof. In one embodiment, the essential oil is 9,12-octadecadienoic acid or the like. In one embodiment, the triterpene is ganoderic acid or the like. In one embodiment, the polysaccharide is glucose or the like.
