The present invention relates to fluorine-containing monosaccharides that are useful for the formation of extracellular fluorinated glycoconjugates. The method of forming an extracellular fluorinated glycoconjugate comprises contacting the cell with a fluorine-containing monosaccharide and subjecting the cell to conditions under which the cell internalizes the fluorine-containing monosaccharide or derivative thereof on the surface of the cell. It has each process to culture | cultivate. The present invention also relates to the use of fluorine-containing monosaccharides in cell imaging using fluorine NMR. The invention further relates to the use of fluorine-containing monosaccharides in the treatment of cancer and inflammatory diseases. |
