abstract | The present invention provides an apparatus for assaying clotting activity. In the device, the blood flow inlet and vessel include two or more patches of material. The substance can initiate a coagulation pathway in the bloodstream. The present invention also provides an apparatus for measuring coagulation propagation including an area of a substance that can initiate a coagulation pathway and an area where coagulation propagation is monitored. Methods for assaying coagulation activity, methods for assaying the integrity of the blood coagulation pathway, methods for assaying the effect of substances on the integrity of the blood coagulation pathway, methods for monitoring coagulation propagation, and preventing coagulation propagation from one vessel to another A method is also provided. |
