abstract The present invention describes a chimeric vaccine antigen against a virus that produces swine fever (CSFV). The vaccine antigen is based on viral subunits bound to protein molecules that stimulate the humoral immune system as well as cellular. This chimeric antigen can be produced in an expression system that ensures correct three-dimensional folding of the chimeric molecule that forms the basis of the present invention. The vaccine composition comprising the chimeric antigen potently elicits an early immune response in vaccinated pigs and confers complete protection against CSFV. Furthermore, the consequences of this vaccine composition prevent viral transmission from sows to offspring. This chimeric antigen and the vaccine composition obtained therefrom are also applied in the field of animal health as a vaccine for prophylactic use in pigs.
