titleOfInvention Adapter for anesthesia sprayer
abstract The adapter (10) is provided with a base (12) that can be installed in a bottle (18) containing a liquid anesthetic. A spout (14) extending upward from the base is received by an inlet port (68) of an anesthetic sprayer (70) having a movable valve assembly (72) and a stationary part such as a radial shelf (82). The spout includes a stationary contact member (40) configured to contact and open the nebulizer valve assembly (16) when the spout is inserted into the inlet port. The adapter also includes a movable valve assembly that is contacted and opened by a fixed portion of the inlet port when the spout is inserted into the inlet port. When the spout is inserted into the inlet port, the contact member and adapter valve assembly are arranged such that the contact member opens the sprayer valve assembly before the fixed portion of the inlet port opens the adapter valve assembly.
