abstract |
An embodiment of an energy acquisition device formed by injection molding is described. In one embodiment, a piezoelectric cantilever beam that acquires vibrational energy from a sensed environment is manufactured by an injection molding process. The cantilever device includes a member made of piezoelectric material, a proof mass made of high-density material connected to the piezoelectric member, and a lead frame for electrical connection. The piezoelectric member is electrically attached to the lead frame with a standard connection material. The entire assembly is then injection molded with plastic. The plastic surrounding the piezoelectric member forms a cantilever that generates electricity in response to vibrations exerted on the proof mass. [Selection] Figure 7 |
