abstract | A sealed brachytherapy packaging system is disclosed that includes an inner tray that includes a plurality of recesses, each of which is for holding a strand of connected radioactive material seed separated by a spacer. The inner tray cover may also include a plurality of recesses that match the recesses in the inner tray when placed on the inner tray. The inner tray and inner tray cover are supported by a container made of metal such as white eyes and can be enclosed in the container. A retainer is also supported on the top of the container and can be shaped to hold forceps or tweezers. The outer tray can be used to support and contain the container and optional holder. The outer tray can be sealed with a removable sheet that is adhesively attached to the rim of the outer tray. Different forms of the inner tray and inner tray cover can be used for different packaging forms. |
