Composite particles containing inorganic nanoparticles arranged on support particles, and methods for producing and using the composite particles. A flowable aerosol is produced containing droplets of the precursor medium dispersed in the gas phase. The precursor medium contains a liquid vehicle and at least one precursor. At least a portion of the liquid vehicle is removed from the droplets of the precursor medium under conditions effective to convert the precursor to nanoparticles on the support and to form composite particles. |
