The method of making the encapsulated chromonic nanoparticles converts the crosslinked chromonic nanoparticles into an acid selected from the group consisting of carbonic acid, phosphoric acid, lactic acid, citric acid, boric acid, sulfuric acid, and mixtures thereof. In contrast, exposure to the presence of water includes encapsulating the crosslinked nanoparticles in a shell containing a complex containing chromonic material, multivalent cations, and acid anions. |
