titleOfInvention |
Phosphorylated COP1 molecule and uses thereof |
abstract |
The present invention provides these uses, including COP1 molecules and modulators of COP1 activity and their diagnostic and therapeutic uses. Such molecules may be useful in detecting a subject's DNA damage and modulating the response to DNA damage and p53 activity. Furthermore, the present invention also provides reagents and kits for use in screening for test compounds that can modulate COP1 activity. In one aspect, the invention provides a method for detecting DNA damage in a cell containing an ATM polypeptide by detecting cellular COP1 polypeptide, wherein the method comprises phosphorylation of the COP1 polypeptide by the ATM polypeptide. Alternatively, DNA damage is indicated by a decrease in COP1 polypeptide levels compared to controls. |
