An object of the present invention is to provide a method for preparing a modified zeolite-containing catalyst superior to the prior art. A process for preparing a catalyst comprising at least one modified zeolite, wherein the zeolite exhibits a maximum pore opening diameter of 7 mm or less before being modified, the process comprising at least A) introducing at least one metal selected from metals of Group VIB and Group VIII of the Periodic Table of Elements onto the surface of a support based on at least one protonated zeolite; Step b) treating the zeolite in the presence of at least one molecular compound containing at least one silicon atom, the compound having a diameter greater than the maximum opening diameter of the pores of the zeolite; And c) depositing from the gas phase on the outer surface of the zeolite; c) at least one heat treatment step.
