titleOfInvention Self-expanding stent delivery system
abstract A system and method is provided that can more securely and accurately place a self-expanding stent in a patient's blood vessel or other vessel. A self-expanding stent delivery system and method having an inserter for receiving a delivery catheter. The delivery catheter includes an outer body, an inner body, and a stent loaded into a stent bed within the inner body. At least one anchoring mechanism provided on the inner body helps to properly maintain the loaded pre-deployment stent in the stent bed during deployment. The at least one anchoring mechanism can include a radiopaque material to facilitate visualization of the stent through fluoroscopy upon deployment, and the self-expanding stent can be drug or other on the interior or surface. A bioabsorbable material containing the physiologically active substance can be obtained. Once the stent is deployed at the desired treatment site, the inner and outer bodies of the delivery catheter and the inserter are pulled back. [Selection] Figure 1
