The present invention relates to a bulletproof and blade-proof flexible composite. The composite is formed from at least one, preferably a plurality of fiber layers, comprising a network of high tenacity fibers. The laminate of fiber layers is consolidated into a desired pattern over a substantial portion of its surface area, resulting in a consolidated area and an unconsolidated area. The unconsolidated region provides flexibility throughout the composite structure, which is resistant to ballistic projectiles and / or sharp objects. Body armor formed from this composite is comfortable to wear and reduces the degree of trauma to the wearer resulting from impacts from ballistic projectiles or sharp objects. [Selection] Figure 1 |
