titleOfInvention | MULTIFUNCTIONAL COMPOSITION FOR COAGABLE COMPOSITE MATERIAL AND METHOD FOR PRODUCING THE COMPOSITION |
abstract | A multifunctional composition is provided for incorporation into a settable composite. This composition is blended as an additive that adjusts the density of the composite material and accelerates the curing or strength development of the material. The additive composition generally includes a modified low density silicic acid having an alkaline activating compound such as sodium silicate and at least one region morphologically altered by a chemical such as a partially digested region. Quality materials are included. The additive can be in slurry form, powder form, or agglomerated particle form. This additive can be manufactured using a two-step process, in which the siliceous material is made finer, combined with the alkaline compound in solution, and then digested at atmospheric pressure or in a pressurized vessel. In some embodiments, the solution can be spray dried to form agglomerated particles containing an alkaline activating compound and low density siliceous particles having one or more partially digested regions. |
