PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and an apparatus for detection and concentration measurement of a substance having absorption at 300 nm or less in a solution. An apparatus (10) includes a transparent cell (30), a light source (20), a bandpass filter (22), a beam splitter (24), a reference detector (42), and a sample detector (40). A light emitting diode (20) that emits light having a wavelength of 300 nm or less is used as a light source. Ultraviolet light having a wavelength of 300 nm or less is sent from the light source (20) through the bandpass filter (22), passed through the beam splitter (24), and the electromagnetic waves branched by the beam splitter are quantified by the control detector (42) to obtain a control value. The electromagnetic wave that has passed through the cell (30) having a known optical path length is quantified by a sample detector to obtain a sample value, and the absorbance (A) is calculated from the sample value and the control value. The methods and apparatus of the present invention are particularly useful for protein and nucleic acid detection and concentration measurements. [Selection] Figure 1 |
