titleOfInvention Method and apparatus for evaluating blood concentration of volatile components
abstract Disclosed is a method for evaluating blood concentrations of volatile blood components (preferably alcohol) in human or animal subjects. The method is configured to detect the presence of the component in the exhaled air flow of the subject to generate a first signal representative of the concentration of the component in the exhaled air, Placing a sensor (21, 22) configured to generate a second signal representative of the carbon dioxide concentration. The exhaled air flow from the subject is sampled and first and second signals derived from the exhalation are generated substantially simultaneously. The method is also an input step for inputting the first and second signals obtained in the sampling step to an algorithm, wherein the algorithm compares the change over time of the first signal with the change over time of the second signal. And an input step of displaying the second signal as a dilution of the expiratory airflow according to the comparison result.
