titleOfInvention | Two-chamber solution packaging system |
abstract | A solution packaging system (10) is disclosed. One embodiment of the solution packaging system of the present invention comprises two gas impermeable chambers having a first chamber (30) and a second chamber (35) separated by a fragile (releasable) seal (25). A mold bag (15) and an overwrap member (20) enclosing and containing the two-chamber inner bag are included. The two-chamber bag can be used to package a two-part medical solution containing bicarbonate, such as an eye wash solution. The overwrap can act as a dust cover and need not be a moisture barrier or gas barrier because the two-chamber inner bag minimizes the loss of CO 2 from the first part of the solution (eg, bicarbonate) This is because it has a sufficient gas barrier property. The dual chamber bag may be provided with a dosing port (110) and may be sealed with a stopper and an aluminum crimp seal. The dual chamber bag can further include a fill port (100) for filling each chamber. The filling port opening can be sealed after filling the chamber, and the filling port can be disconnected from the two-chamber bag. The brittle seal between the chambers of embodiments of the present invention can be broken by the end user to mix and reconstitute the two portions of the solution prior to use. |
