Microfluidic device based on active matrix principle |
abstract |
A microfluidic device (1) is proposed that includes a two-dimensional array of elements (2) that process fluids and / or sense fluid properties. Each element (2) is coupled to at least one control terminal (9, 10) that allows the active matrix to change the state of each element individually. The element group has at least one heater element (13). The active matrix includes a two-dimensional array of electronic components (12) formed by thin film technology. The active matrix provides a high versatility for the device. Thin film technology ensures a cost-effective manufacturing method for large area devices. |
