titleOfInvention Method and apparatus for microbial identification using bacteriophage
abstract Samples are tested for the presence of bacteria, such as in an automated blood culture device. If it is determined that the bacteria are present, a bacteriophage-based bacterial identification process is performed to identify the bacteria present. Prior to the bacterial identification process, multiple bacterial detection processes such as a blood culture test and a Gram stain test may be performed. A bacteriophage-based antibiotic resistance test or antibiotic susceptibility test is also performed on the sample.
