The present invention provides a control unit for a patient support such as a mattress, for example. One embodiment of a control unit includes a base portion and a display portion pivotably coupled to the base portion. The control unit may also include one or more communication ports for transmitting and receiving data to and from one or more remote devices over the network. The control unit may also include a memory port in which a memory can be inserted and removed. The control unit may also include a visual indicator that is configured to be triggered by a trigger such as, for example, the patient leaving the mattress. The display unit may include a touch screen user interface. Further, the display unit may be configured to display audiovisual material. |
